Royal Wedding Cupcakes

With the Royal wedding fast approaching, the whole of Great Britain is preparing for a peppering of Union Jack flags, bunting and good old fashioned tea parties. Never one to miss out on a trend, my sisters and I decided to make some cupcakes dedicated to our soon-to-be Royal Newlyweds.

We decided to make simple cupcakes with three themes of topper. We went for a Union Jack Flag...

which I think came out really well. The colours went nicely with the light blue icing and the pattern was easy to replicate for multiple cupcakes. Plus, theres nothing like a bit of patriotism for our Royal Family, the least we could do!

The second cupcake pattern was based around the idea of Royalty itself, with a crown design.

We'd just got some exciting new gold paint so this was an excellent chance to try it out. The paint went on really nicely so we're looking forward to using it again. The third cake was based around the newlyweds themselves.

This was my least favourite topper, I have to say. Not only were we umming and ahhing about whether to write C for Catherine or K for Kate, but I was also told, after doing all the toppers, that I had been doing my & signs the wrong way round my whole life! My mum broke the news, and I was devistated to discover that I'd been making a fool of myself in all my abreviations until now. Also I just didn't think the design was as good as the other two. Anyway, we made a lovely display for the cakes and took lots of pictures. My mum has an amazing teapot from the Queens corronation which is shaped like her carriage. Look out for it in the second of the pictures, its really quite special.

So all thats left for me to say is good luck to the happy couple, I'm sure Kate will look gorgeous in her dress and the whole country will have an excellent day off to celebrate. Have fun whatever you're doing! xx
